The adapter enables standard Astor eyepieces to be mounted on the Conquest Gavial. Available as 1 OE" connector. Possible magnifications, exit pupils and true fields of view The magnification is calculated from the formula magnification=494 mm / focal length of eyepiece in mm. Then, the exit pupil is calculated from the formula EP=85 mm / magnification. And the true field of view in degrees is calculated according to tofu=eyepiece field of view / magnification. If the magnification is too high, the image will deteriorate, if the exit pupil is too large, not all of the light will hit the eye. The focal length of the eyepiece should not be significantly less then 8 mm, the maximum focal length depends on how large your pupils can get under different observing conditions. There are tables in the internet showing the eye´s pupil size, but they are only a coarse guide. As a rule of thumb, the pupil stays 8 mm wide until age 20, then you have to subtract 1 mm for every decade, and the minimum is 2. 5 mm. Product information
